CULTURAL PRESERVATION CATEGORY

The HOC is a nominee for the prestigious Asian Heritage Award in the category of Cultural Preservation www.AsianHeritageAwards.com. The Awards are sponsored by Asia, the Journal of Culture and Commerce in conjunction with the Asian Heritage Society. On-line voting will determine the winner. Winners will be announced on July 25 at a gala held on the U.S.S. Midway. Please VOTE for the House of China.

The HOC was founded in 1935 in conjunction with the California Pacific International Exposition in Balboa Park, San Diego. We fought nearly single handedly to promote, present and preserve Chinese culture and friendship at that time. Now we continue to lead and partner in the following:

• Every Sunday cultural open house
• Hosted for 15 years the Chinese Language School Essay Contest
• First Chinese Partner in Education to Barnard Mandarin School
• Lead organization for Taste of Asia Food Tasting Charity and Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade Chinese Community entry
• Partner in community Chinese New Year dinner show, civic exhibitions such as the Museum of Man Wood Block Exhibit, and continuously participated at the Chinese New Year Street Fair

The HOC is a non-profit relying upon volunteer support. Our 75th year of service will be celebrated in 2010. Please support us with your VOTE Now!
